I’ve always loved fireplaces. Wood burning, gas starters, open gas fireplaces… if there’s a flame, it feels warm, inviting, and like home.
But when the fire was out, the opening was still there.
I could feel drafts coming in and couldn’t help thinking about the heated air escaping in winter and the cool air we were trying to keep inside during summer. I loved my fireplace. I just wanted a better way to cover it when it wasn’t in use.
So I made one.
My solution was an insulated panel that rested against the firebox opening when the fireplace was completely cool and inactive. It helped create a barrier to drafts and the movement of warm and cool air. And because the fireplace was such a visible part of the room, I wanted the cover to look like it belonged there.
Adding a custom printed design brought those two ideas together: a practical cover and something beautiful to look at.
Then friends and family started noticing.
When people visited, they asked what it was and where they could get one. My answer was simple: “I made it.”
Soon, they were asking me to make covers for their fireplaces, too. I asked them to send measurements. They did. And I started making more.
That is how Fireside Impressions began: with a need in my own home that turned out to be something other people wanted to solve, too.
Today, that same idea is at the heart of every cover. An insulated, custom printed panel that helps reduce drafts while reflecting your home, your family, and your sense of style. A favorite photograph, a family monogram, seasonal artwork, or a design that brings the whole room together.
My favorite option is printing both sides. You can enjoy one look every day and turn the panel around for a new season, a holiday, or simply a change of mood.
What started as a solution for my own open fireplace has become a way to help others make their hearth part of their home or business… even when the fire isn’t burning.
